EAP Business Support | | Located within one of the city’s Urban Enterprise Zones (UEZ), Elizabeth Avenue has the benefit of charging just 3.5% Sales Tax at most stores. Funds from this initiative are reinvested into a Zone Fund where monies are allocated for Façade Grants, commercial and Working Capital Loan Programs, Streetscape Beautification Projects and Security Initiatives. The UEZ Program has been extremely helpful in the revitalization of Elizabeth Avenue. The Business climate on Elizabeth Avenue continues to thrive and new businesses have decided to relocate to the district such as Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins, Domino’s Pizza and numerous clothing stores, restaurants and even the city’s first internet café. This attention to Quality Business Attraction/Retention has helped keep occupancy rates stay at an all time high, while many businesses utilize UEZ loan and grant incentives to stay and expand their success on Elizabeth Avenue. The EAP makes sure to appropriately welcome new businesses to the Avenue with “Grand Opening” ceremonies attended by the Mayor and various media outlets. The EAP also features new stores in their local newsletter, while doing all they can to make sure existing businesses have the tools they need to be successful. | | Business Resource Links: City of Elizabeth Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce For any business support questions contact the Elizabeth Avenue Partnership.
