Celebrate the Holidays on Elizabeth Avenue
Elizabeth Avenue---The Elizabeth Avenue Partnership (EAP) is pleased to announce another exciting slate of holiday events on Elizabeth Avenue this season starting with the Annual Tree-Lighting Ceremony at Union Square Plaza on Tuesday, November 29th from 5-7 p.m. The holiday events are sponsored in part by TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank and the EAP.

“Each year, it’s a pleasure to be a part of this exciting event, “said Nick Miceli, Market President, TD Bank. “This event officially starts the holiday season for the community and TD Bank is excited to sponsor it once again.”

Following the Tree-Lighting Ceremony, which serves as the official kick off to the holiday shopping season on Elizabeth Avenue, will be three Saturday’s of free children’s entertainment featuring horse-drawn wagon rides, pony rides, petting zoo, holiday music, refreshments and visits from Santa Claus.

The dates of the events will take place on Saturday, December 3rd from 12-3p.m. with free horse-drawn wagon rides around the neighborhood, Saturday, December 10th from 12-3 p.m. featuring free Pony Rides around Union Square Plaza and finally on Saturday, December 17th from 12-3 p.m. with a live petting zoo featuring llamas, ponies, rabbits, goats, sheep and ducks. Santa will be at each event for photos.

“Elizabeth Avenue comes alive during the holiday season and we are truly happy to bring this event to the community each year,” said David Strochak, EAP Executive Director.

As planned, Santa Claus will arrive at the tree-lighting ceremony in a horse-drawn wagon and free rides will be available to the children before and after the official lighting of the tree at approximately 6 p.m. Mayor Chris Bollwage will lead the Tree Lighting accompanied by EAP Board members and Santa. Music by DJ Robb, Carolers, light refreshments, hot chocolate and a holiday elf will be on hand for the festivities and hot chocolate will be provided by the Renaissance Marriott Hotels while local vending favorite known as “Popcorn Dom” will be giving away freshly popped hot popcorn and other treats.



“The EAP Tree-Lighting Ceremony is always a great success and marks the official start of the holiday shopping season on Elizabeth Avenue,” said EAP Chairman, Angel L. Rodriguez of State Farm Insurance. “Please come out and bring the kids to our free Saturday events and support our local businesses while here.”

All events are free and will be accompanied by a holiday elf, DJ Rob playing holiday music and free refreshments for the children.

There will also be a Santa’s Mailbox placed on Union Square Plaza until December 22nd where children will have an opportunity to write a letter to Santa and receive a return letter from Santa himself directly from the North Pole. Please include a return address in all letters placed in the mailbox.
