EAP ANNOUNCES LOGO DESIGN CONTEST
Elizabeth Avenue – The Elizabeth Avenue Partnership (EAP) is looking for a new logo for its organization, which will be used to help promote the business district on Elizabeth Avenue. The EAP has created a contest to find the new logo, and is inviting students and adults from Elizabeth and the surrounding area to submit an entry.
The current logo (“The Market”) is nearly 10 years old and according to Board Chairman Larry Franchini, Jr., the committee decided it was time to refresh and update the logo, which will be used to showcase a bustling shopping district where several different communities of people from around the world, speaking many different languages all live, work and shop together in a bustling, ethnic shopping corridor.
The new logo will be used as the official EAP logo in all of its correspondence, signage, marketing, advertising, public relations and all other printed matter.
“The idea is to involve the community with a task that will make them more aware of this important, diverse and vital shopping district in the state’s 4th largest city. We would like our audience to help us design a look that says, “THIS” is what the Elizabeth Avenue Shopping District means to them,” Franchini said.
The board is looking for a clean, updated logo which is indicative of the culture, history and retail/food opportunities on Elizabeth Avenue, the city’s oldest and most bustling commercial corridor.
“Elizabeth Avenue has important historical significance and played a major role in the Revolutionary War,” said Franchini.
The winner will be featured in a profile and published in EAP press releases, newsletters and featured on the Mayor’s Television Program, “Our City” which airs on local Cablevision. The profile will mention that the person created the winning design and could highlight his/her creative process giving them an excellent opportunity to gain exposure and get recognition for their work. The profile may also look at the person’s other creative endeavors or how they contribute to the community.
Each submission must be original artwork and can be made either electronically or mailed/delivered to The Elizabeth Avenue Partnership 1086-B Elizabeth Avenue, Elizabeth, NJ 07201 by the deadline, May 31, 2008. Email submissions can be sent to eap@elizabethavenue.org.
