| News | | Hollywood Comes to Elizabeth Avenue! | | 1.15.2009 | Academy Award Winning Actress Marissa Tomei and veteran actor Mickey Rourke filmed scenes for an upcoming major motion picture entitled, The Wrestler at Vintage Mode Clothing Store (1055) on Elizabeth Avenue. Filming took all day and the actors were very friendly and even made several purchases, according to store owner Young Pak, who has owned the Vintage clothing store for nearly 15 years. It was an honor to have the movie filmed here, Pak said. How many businesses can say they had a major motion picture filmed at their store?
Scenes from inside of the store include Tomei and Rourke conversing while looking through the racks of retro clothing from the 70s and 80s. Elizabeth Avenue is visible in some outdoor shots, while Tomei even mentions Vintage Mode on Elizabeth Avenue at one point during the movie.
Tomei, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in the 1992 Comedy starring Joe Pesci, My Cousin Vinny, pairs up with Rourke, who just recently won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor (Pope of Greenwich Village, Barfly, 9 and 1/2 Weeks), in a film about a retired professional wrestler, Randy "The Ram" Robinson, making his way through the independent circuit, trying to get back in the game for one final showdown with his former rival. The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky (The Fountain, Requiem for a Dream) and is now playing in theaters and nominated for several awards. | |
