Elizabeth Avenue---The Elizabeth Avenue Partnership (EAP) is pleased to announce that parking on Elizabeth Avenue will be free this holiday season through Christmas. All street meters will be hooded on Elizabeth Avenue from Bridge Street to Fourth Street, including side streets but excludes the municipal lots, according to EAP executive director, Dave Strochak. We feel that in these tough economic times, its a great idea to allow shoppers to save some money while shopping, dining and parking for free, he said.
The Free Parking follows an incredible holiday program on Elizabeth Avenue that began with a festive tree-lighting ceremony, the first of many in town, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. The tree-lighting, attended by Mayor Chris Bollwage, EAP Board members and residents, was televised live on News-12 Channels Weather on the 1s by meteorologist Dave Curren. After that festive event, the EAP followed by hosting three Saturdays worth of free childrens events including, Horse and Buggy Rides, Petting Zoos and Pony Rides on the Avenue. All events were complete with music and a visit from Santa Claus.
The EAP also sponsored a charity gift giveaway and visit by Santa to a local family in need at Josephines Place on Elizabeth Avenue.
